Hiring a marketing agency, graphic designer or website developer to do exactly what you want may not be in your best interest.
A good agency will listen carefully to you. A great agency will probe deeper, asking questions based on what it has heard and often uncovering hidden information which can better inform both strategy and design.
This is known as discovery.
Discovery is an essential element of any project, but especially in website development. It goes beyond the “things” needed (such as a site, an online calendar, etc) and reveals the true functionality, strategy and content required to best satisfy a business’ goals. Discovery may even direct a project in new directions as the” hows” and “whys” of things are addressed and dissected.
