Three years ago, we wrote about the disastrous results that sending bulk email via your website can have. And while the popular post is a bit old, it is still tremendously valid.
There are many compelling reasons to use a third-party email service provider rather than sending from within your website or email client.
Third-party providers work hard to ensure deliverability and CAN-Spam compliance. They are also approved by ISPs as bulk-mail delivery providers and do whatever they can to avoid their servers being labeled a spam sender.
If you send bulk mail via your website using a newsletter or subscriber management system add-on, you risk being blacklisted, especially if your site is on a shared server where the combined volume of emails sent can raise a red flag.
