Meet Fred, Google’s Latest Update.

by | May 9, 2017 | Strategy & Analysis | 0 comments

It would be polite to say, “Nice to meet you, Fred.” However, Fred came to the party unannounced (as Google’s updates usually do), and we’re still trying to figure out why he’s here and who he’s looking for…

Unfortunately, every time Google rolls out a new update, we (business owners and marketing professionals) are left scrambling to determine what types of sites they are targeting, and whether we need to make changes to our SEO strategies.

Following the most recent Google update, “Fred,” Sistrix (a  well-known SEO toolset data collection company), analyzed approximately 300 domains to determine what sites were hit the worst, and why.

According to Search Engine Land, “They have confirmed our analysis of Fred, where we said low value content sites were hit by this update.”

Apparently, Fred is looking for sites with a lot of banner ads, and particularly those with AdSense campaigns. He also doesn’t appear to like sites will little or low-quality content. So far, it looks like Google’s latest update, Fred, is continuing the work of trying to bring more value to the reader.
