Do you get the feeling that your subscribers know there’s a an actual person behind your company emails?  If not, you may need to take a step back.

Email marketing can be an amazing tool – as long as you put the right effort into personalizing it. You can reach more people, and ideally make more sales faster, but not if your email messaging sounds robotic.

There are many ways to establish trust and develop a better connection with your subscribers, a few of which include:

  1. Research your customers, so you know what type of responses they’ll appreciate. Ask unique questions during email signups to get the best results.
  2. Address people by name, vs. “Sir” or “Madam.” There’s nothing less personal than a generic, “Dear Subscriber” or similar email introduction.
  3. Respond personally when appropriate. Don’t leave your subscribers hanging. Not only is it rude, but your response may serve as a reminder that your company exists and is populated with real, live human beings.
