GDPR has been a prevalent topic on blogs and news sites recently, with specific attention to email opt-in/opt-out. But GDPR compliance goes beyond email lists.
If you allow comments on your blog or use Google Analytics, you should be concerned with GDPR.
In fact, if your website collects or stores any data related to an EU citizen you must comply. Data might include:
- Blog comment data such as name or email address
- Traffic stats via Google Analytics
- Information collected via website plugins such as Jetpack, Disqus or Zillalikes
- Email address or other information from subscribe forms
Even if you never use the data, you must become compliant.
