Google has been refining the Posts feature it rolled out last year. Now people can “follow” a business from Google Maps.

By following a business, a user will get relevant info from GMB Posts such as notification of events, promotions and other updates. Whenever a business adds a post, the user will receive an update in their “For You” tab.

With over 150 million monthly active users of Google Maps, there’s a lot of opportunity for business. However, Google Maps users may not be aware of the new features. As a business or brand, this is a good time to educate them, especially if you are using Google Posts for promotions.

Adding the feature is also a good move by Google. After shutting Google Plus down, the company can focus on products they do well at (such as Google Maps) and still introduce or include a social element to their offerings.
