If you have Facebook apps for your website, you may need to re-develop them.

As part of a promise to make Facebook more secure, Facebook has announced they will be shutting down 12 APIs and initiating a number of changes in how apps share to your timeline and access data as well as information about your friends.

Sites which publish to a user’s News Feed will now have to use a Facebook standardized sharing dialog. These standardized dialogs will allow users to more readily identify and feel confident in the app’s legitimacy.

Additionally, Instagram is shutting down part of its API effective immediately, preventing apps from analyzing users’ followers.

For a list of APIs and how they might affect your website integration with the social media sites, see these posts from TechCrunch on Facebook and Instagram.
