A Facebook contest can grow fans and increase fan engagement

Each year, A&E Coffee sells an Earth Day blend and donates a portion of the proceeds to an environmental charity. This year, the company decided to kick the promotion up a notch and invite local artists to contribute designs for the Earth Day label. We ran a contest on Facebook where fans chose the winning label, and that artist got to choose the charity to receive the donation. Nearly one thousand votes were cast in ten days for eight label designs. In addition, A&E’s Facebook page added nearly 200 new fans during this promotion.
