Alexa’s latest feature will allow users to have her read — and delete — emails. What will be the impact on email marketers?

When asked to read email, Alexa will read the name of the sender and the subject line. She will then follow-up with a question, asking if the user wants to “read, reply, delete, archive or next.”

This creates a greater need for attention grabbing subject lines to entice the user to continue “reading” or at least save for later.

Marketers will also need to focus on their copy. Users won’t be able to see images or formatted text to help them determine if they want to delete a message or save it for later.
